Xenoblade Chronicles X looks absolutely stunning at 4K & 60FPS in latest Wii U Emulator CEMU 1.21.2 (2024)

Now thanks to CEMU, a Wii U Emulator, we can play Xenoblade Chronicles X again at 4K and 60FPS and it's simply spectacular how good it looks!
While I love all of the Xenoblade games, this one in particular and it's sci-fi setting (which I honestly think MonolithSoft excels at btw) blows me away.
The feeling of freedom in this game is fantastic. And there's so much verticality to go through in the world it almost feels endless.

Mira is a gorgeous setting, split into five continents and every single one of them is unique and gigantic, with their own ecosystems.
Exploration quickly becomes rewarding as many areas are pretty dangerous from the start, and in many of these places there's hidden disguised enemies waiting to surprise you.
I'm not kidding, I can't count the amount of times I had to find a safe route to my objective 'cause there were enemies disguised as PLANTS pretty much everywhere hahaha!

Another thing to love about this game and that sci-fi setting? Skells! A Skell is a weaponizable mech that you can pilot later on in the game to FLY AROUND THE WORLD!
OVER THE RAINBOW, there's a glorious sight, it's lighting our dreams and I hope we're alright~ for the fellow people of culture that instantly remember the song that plays when flying!
That sounds really cool, right?! It sure is, oh my god, and you can also fight in them of course, customize them, etc. Seriously play this game if you like mechas and jRPG's.

There may not be an actual main character you control that has a personality like in the previous game (there is also character creation) which can be a weak point compared to the other Xenoblade games, yes... But there are still eight main playable characters, and I found a lot of the actual story behind many of them to be really interesting as I spent more time with them.

Hiroyuki Sawano is the composer for this game! He's a pretty popular composer for animes like Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Guilty Crown, Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, etc.
I really like his pretty unique music for this game, of course I'll agree that for the most part the soundtracks for the other Xenoblade games are just godtier no matter what.
Yet the soundtrack for this game was still pretty refreshing. And I honestly still got many area themes stuck in my head along with the beggining part of the normal battle theme.

I really love how many cool details MonolithSoft pushed into this game, including many unique animations for some of the animals living in it's world.
You can see some of them stopping to drink water from a lake, others... dancing and jumping all over the place, others just running around, everywhere you look is lively!
Perhaps the next Xenoblade game we'll get will be similar to this one! Or perhaps we'll get a Remaster for the Nintendo Switch at some point now that Xenoblade DE got one!

Now finally getting back to topic, sorry about that, if you're interested in running this beautiful game on your PC but you're not sure how to do it check this video out!
There's no better guide out there IMO that will explain you how to setup CEMU properly! (and the latest build at that too!)

There are many great tweaks you can apply called Graphic Packs which feature lots of enhancements or fixes to games like 4K, a 60FPS patch, better LOD, bloom effects and more!
You can use any controller you have for your PC too if you so desire! And you can also scale effects like blur and bloom to the desired resolution.
Raising the resolution to 1080p or higher significantly improves the readability of the UI and does not cause issues btw!
You may remember that originally, if you played this game in the Wii U the tiny UI text was almost impossible to see and now it's finally somewhat legible!

You can also play online like in the original Wii U! I know many might be curious about that.
Cemu supports most online features. In order to connect to official servers some system files must be dumped from a Wii U. You can find a guide here.
You can still play offline of course, and there is a Graphic Pack/Mod that will still allow you to get Reward Tickets and do missions anyways!

There is also an official Xenoblade Chronicles X CEMU Wiki page you can check to troubleshoot any potential issues you may have pretty quickly!
Hopefully this thread will help some of ya beautiful peeps to get aboard this great game now that it has a new "Definitive Edition" until MonolithSoft makes one too.
If you have any questions, need help with settings or want me to add something to the post feel free to contact me anytime, enjoy, have fun and have a great day!
